3 is the magic number

3 is the magic number

Not only is 3 my fav number, but when it comes to my skincare routine, 3 is definitely the magic number. Herbivore Botanicals has so many amazing products, but the 3 that work for me are the Bamboo Charcoal Cleansing Bar Soap, Rose Hibiscus Face Mist and the Lapis Facial Oil. For an added bonus, I use the Blue Tansy Resurfacing Face Mask a few times a week.

Let me tell you, it took me a while to perfect my skincare routine. I was so lucky growing up that I never had acne issues; but for some reason when I got into my 20’s, my face went crazy. Maybe it was the fact that I actually had real stress in my life, or my body was just changing and I needed to find something to calm it down. I’m Italian so my skin is oily and also very sensitive. I’ve literally tried about a million things, and it became something that I was very embarrassed about. It’s one thing if you have acne when you’re 16 and everyone is going through it, then to have skin issues when you’re 22-26 and all of your friends have perfect skin. I went to the dermatologist a bunch of times and was prescribed medication and antibiotics, which still didn’t work. I tried the au’naturale by using tea tree oil and coconut oil for cleansing and moisturizing, over the counter products, and not wearing make up at all so it wouldn’t clog my pours. It was SO frustrating! Then I discovered Herbivore Botanicals. All of their products are safe & non-toxic with raw natural ingredients. So here is my routine, morning & night:

  • Start by cleansing with the Bamboo Charcoal Detoxifying Bar Soap. It’s a little messy, but it leaves your skin feeling clean and smooth. Every other product I used would leave a film on my face, and I never felt like it was actually clean. You don’t even need to use makeup remover first. This bar draws impurities from the skin, is gentle, and works magic on combination or blemish-prone skin types.
  • After cleansing and before moisturizer is the best time to spritz on a little Rose Hibiscus Face Mist. This coconut water based mist leaves your face feeling toned, hydrated and soft as it’s infused with hibiscus flower petals and rose for a youth-boosting effect. Since using this mist, I can tell that the slight lines on my forehead have started to diminish. This mist is also great when you need a little moisture, but not a ton.
  • The Lapis Facial Oil is AMAZING. I never moisturized my face because I was always nervous about producing more oil that would make my skin break out. Ironically, your face needs oil to balance out especially if you’ve been over washing and drying out your skin. The lapis oil contains an ingredient called Azulene which is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial that helps to calm the skin. All you need to do with this oil is rub onto fingers and apply to cleansed skin. Make sure you wait a few minutes to allow the oil to absorb before applying makeup. A little goes a long way with this product.

***If you want a bonus step try the Blue Tansy Resurfacing Face Mask. I use this a few times a week (2-3) to help keep acne at bay. It does tingle a little at first, but I have super sensitive skin and I have never had any issues with this product. All you have to do is apply a thin layer to clean skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. I usually put this on after I shower and before I’ve applied the Rose Hibiscus mist and Lapis Oil. – side note: I know $48 may sound like a lot for a small jar of this mask, but I’ve been using this product at least twice a week for the past two months, and I still have about half of the jar left. Believe me, it’s worth it!

If your skin is less oily, try using the Blue Clay Cleansing Bar Soap, Rose Hibiscus Face Mist, and Orchid Facial Oil. I hope to have these at Wildflower Valley, in the near future.

Leave a comment if you have any questions!

I’m also still working on finding a makeup brand that is organic and free of toxins that will work for my skin. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Peace, love, & the perfect skin.
