"all good things are wild & free"

2016 absolutely FLEW. It flew so fast that it took me almost a week into 2017 to write about my year. Whoops! Everyone keeps saying they can’t wait for 2016 to be over, but so many fun and exciting things happened in my life. I got a new full time job that works with my lifestyle, got ENGAGED, found out I’m going to be an aunt, went to Disney for the first time in over 10 years, AND I put my mind to something and actually accomplished it by launching WILDFLOWER VALLEY! This year has been a whirlwind, but it has challenged me & ultimately made me a better person.

I had been talking about starting my own business for quite some time, but like most other things I’m pretty sure everyone thought I was crazy. I like to think that I’m an ambitious person. Every year for Christmas I go 100% on something I really want to accomplish that year in the form of a gift.

One year I NEEDED a guitar, because who doesn’t want to be a Rockstar as a kid? Needless to say, I lasted about 3 months of guitar lessons. That navy blue Fender has been in my parents basement unplayed and out of tune ever since. Maybe one day I’ll find the time and patience to learn. Then in college I studied abroad in Rome, so when I came home May of 2011 I was pretty familiar with the language. Naturally, I wanted to become fluent in Italian. So, what did I ask for at Christmas? The full series of Rosetta Stone. How many times did I use the program? About 10. Most recently, I was going to learn how to sew. I tried it once, and the sewing machine is still sitting in my closet collecting dust. Thanks mom & dad for supporting all of my crazy ideas!

But, when it came to 2016, I was really determined. I mean like, no one is going to stop me this time. I don’t think anyone actually took me seriously, but it was time to put my words into actions. I had been dreaming up this boutique for quite some time, so I decided it was now or never. Now that I took the leap, my goal for 2017 is to grow Wildflower Valley by attending more markets/events, adding more socially conscious and ethically sources brands, and continuing to strive toward my mantra; "live the life you love".

I went all in on this, and let me tell you I have no idea what I’m doing. But it’s fun and it’s rewarding. And if it doesn't work out, well at least I can say I tried. So, do something crazy this year! You got this :)

Peace, love, & just go for it!
